The original 1500 cc engine was replaced with a rebuilt 1600 cc single port (8% hp and 5% torque improvement) which has less than 3000 miles on it.
Major tune up just completed with all new components and carb cleaning.
Since 2009 this Beetle has been garaged in Sonoma and used on weekends; prior to that it had been garaged in San Francisco since 1975.
A modern radio with good door speakers works well.
The original factory luggage rack is mounted but hums when empty.
The headliner is in good shape - but for a recent rip above the driver door.
Floor boards and one rusted fender from 3 years in CO and 2 in DC were professionally repaired decades ago.
The 1969FSC license plate refers to 1969 FUSCA which is Portuguese for Beetle.

Minor and fairly invisible changes were made to the Volkswagen Beetle for 1969:
the ignition lock included a steering wheel lock the rear-view mirror got a day/night adjustable feature and double-jointed rear axles were included on all U.

models - a huge improvement over the previous suspension.
The warning lights on the instrument panel received identifying letters or symbols and late in the year the speedometer received a 1/10th of a mile indicator (on this car).
